Following a series of successful online thinkBIM events, Leeds Metropolitan University's Centre for Knowledge Exchange decided to take the BIM (building information modelling) conversation global. On 14 December 2011, the Old Broadcasting House in Leeds hosted a web-enabled GetBIM event.

The event was blogged and discussed live across social media to encourage perspectives from international individuals and organisations that could not attend in person - helping give Leeds businesses a wider business vision.
