Profile Information

About Me
Exciting new position (November 2009): Knowledge Exchange Coordinator at international water law UNESCO Centre within Dundee University.

Qualifications: Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing, Chartered Institute of Marketing; PRINCE II project management Practitioner; & MA (Hons) 2:1 Politics, University of Edinburgh.

Knowledge Exchange roles: "UrbanBuzz, Building Sustainable Communities", University College London, 2007-9 (built environment sector); & IHP-HELP Centre for Water Law, Policy & Science (under UNESCO's auspices), University of Dundee, 2009 - to date.

Commentary:

A fully-qualified, successful marketer at professional postgraduate level offering practical, strategic and tactical marketing, and knowledge exchange experience. I offer an excellent track record of delivering demanding and varied projects to deadline, and on-budget. Supporting dialogue and effective collaboration between academics, practitioners and policy makers has been central to my ten years work in higher education and anchors my multi-disciplinary approach.

In 2009 I gained Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) accreditation as an e-Marketer. As part of this qualification I submitted a live project developed for a management consultancy requiring a KM-driven internal marketing plan. This plan focused upon the common adoption and harnessing of new technologies and communications platforms to better leverage their human and knowledge assets in both winning, and delivering on, new business. Later in 2009 (November) I joined Dundee University in a key marketing and knowledge exchange role within the fast-moving field of international water law.
Specialties:

Knowledge Exchange, Innovation, Marketing, Empowerment, University, & Community Engagement

The "Monitoring of Demonstrator Buildings" competition will shortly open; see the Technology Strategy Board (TSB) website www.innovateuk.org/ and click on "current competitions".

Currently, there is just one paragraph on the site about this competition, but even these few words gives a good sense of what it is all about:

"This competition will enable companies constructing demonstrator buildings to apply for funding to monitor building performance, enabling comparison with… Continue

Urban Agriculture for Lochee, Dundee?

Posted on March 26, 2009 at 17:00 2 Comments

Kate Treharne and I have a common interest – urban agriculture. My interest was borne of the UrbanBuzz/ University College London “ABUNDANCE” project in Brixton, part of the global Transition Towns approach to urban renewal pioneered in Latin America. During UrbanBuzz’s two year lifetime, I was the marketing coordinator of the initiative and I am pleased to include a YouTube video clip all about ABUNDANCE as part of this blog. Kate’s interest in things brown and squelchy (I mean mud) goes back… Continue

Rising Dundee

Posted on March 11, 2009 at 17:30 2 Comments

I have moved to Dundee from London, following my wife up here (somewhat belatedly) who is now working for the University of Dundee in its Drug Discovery Unit, a job that she really enjoys. My move north of the border was delayed by the need to see through my job at University College London, where I was the Marketing Coordinator for a built environment knowledge exchange programme called UrbanBuzz, to its successful completion.

After a period of ten years working primarily in… Continue
