Be2camp was established for people interested in how the latest web applications and web design techniques could help build a better, more sustainable built environment.
Hence with a good range of be2camp events and activities on the horizon, along with an increased focus on the sectors sustainability approaches and performance, it is a good time to revisit our manifesto:
be2camp sustainability manifesto for the built environment
Developed in sessions at be2camp events, our be2camp sustainability manifesto emerged from the premise that built environment sustainability stragety is far too important to be conducted by a few behind closed doors, and that web2.0 and social media provide the mechanism for as wide a consultation and input as is possible, and to that end the built environment sustainability movement should:
- move the debate from ‘sustainability’ to one of ‘resilience’
- collaborate through web2 and social media
- engage with open conversations and debates
- push for appropriate open source
- promote web2 as an enabler for CO2 reduction
- join the 10:10 pledge
- cause no unnecessary harm
The manifesto itself is open, emerging and evolving. It is anticipated that it will continue to be discussed and developed here on the be2camp site and also at future events.
