Thanks so much to Dave Glennon (@bigman100). I guess this means it's my turn and I'm very happy to pass the baton to Kate Baker (@kit2kat).

It was June last year when I got chatting to Kate, a Structural Engineer, who had found herself a victim of the recession. With her infectious enthusiasm, optimism and love of life, I knew that social media was the perfect platform for Kate to pursue new opportunities. She came along to Be2Party in Birmingham in 2009 and was instrumental in the success of Be2camp Brum 2009.

Since then, Kate has gone from strength to strength. Using her connections in the local Built Environment industry networking circles, she has been doing some fantastic work with community groups, running social media surgeries and using social media and web-based tools to bring people together and share ideas.

I'm very lucky to know and occasionally (though not often enough!) work with Kate through the various social media networks in the West Midlands. She's a true be2camp star and a fabulous example of making the most of life and the opportunities it can bring.

If you don't know Kate, I suggest you put that right - as a matter of urgency!
