Social Media Week 2010 is an international 'conference' taking place in early February 2010, and we are hoping to organise
a London Be2camp event as part of the week-long series of events.
Social Media Week was inaugurated last February in New York, and is now extending to include
San Francisco, London, Berlin, Toronto and São Paulo, Brazil. The goal is to: “explore the profound impact that social media has on culture, business communications and society at large … and to create a global platform for conversation, connectivity and learning”.
Events will apparently span a variety of formats, ranging from talks, presentations and panel discussions, to interactive workshops, seminars, networking events and drinks receptions. Some will be free, others will have an admission charge. Some will be put on by marketing groups, others by nonprofits and social change organizations. They’ll all be listed in a public calendar - and
we are proposing to hold a Be2camp event in London that week (and - as we have Be2camp members in some of the other locations, maybe you will decide to do things too!)
Details are sketchy at the moment. The London event could range from a simple Tweet-up to a full-blown 'unconference' - or both, or something in between! Most likely dates are 1st or 2nd February (some Be2camp regulars are already involved with another event on 3rd February). If you have a suitable venue, would like to speak, can offer sponsorship or would simply like to help organise SMWBe2camp,
let me know.
